Last week the iPhone App Store celebrated its first birthday, and boy has it grown up a lot in that year! With nearly 55,000 applications to date, we discovered it would cost roughly $144,326 to try them all, so we decided to be a bit more prudent and turn to you, the LivingSocial users, for insight into the most popular apps.
In the number one slot is Facebook (shocker!) with double the number of users as its closest competition. We all love Facebook, and this app is a way to get your fix away from home. Although many of you point out that the FB app could be much better, it's still the most added and reviewed of any other app. Joseph urges everyone to "get this app as soon as you can," and in a review that gets right to the point, Gabs calls this app, "the best app you could ever think of." Let's be honest, you can't have an iPhone and NOT know who's posting on your wall!
Though it may not be as popular as Facebook, the second most popular app is definitely one of our favorites. Ever hear a song on the radio and think, "what IS this song? It's right on the tip of my tongue!" Frustrating, right? Well ponder no longer, friends, Shazam to the rescue! The app "listens" to a song through your iPhone, analyzes it, and tells you the name and artist who created it. How cool is that? LivingSocial reviewer John says it is, "amazing what this can do," and Tim calls it "an indispensable application." We thought it'd be fun to try it while singing karaoke, but if it doesn't recognize what you're singing, you might want to put the mic down...
Finally, it seems that you just can't get enough of Pandora Radio, and honestly, we can't blame you! Several of us use it daily for a little entertainment while working. We agree with Brian who loves that "there are no annoying DJ's to listen to" and Carol who says emphatically, "WOW!! This really is a 'must have'." And one of our own LivingSocial team members who finally got his iPhone has delayed adding his iTunes library simply because the Pandora app lets him listen to his favorite tunes just as easily, without eating up the memory.
We've got to hand it to you all, you've hit the nail on the head with your favorite iPhone apps because we love all three of these and have had them on our iPhones for a while now.
