Movies + Friends = Awesomeness 2

Here at ReelSocial, we've been spending a lot of time figuring out how we can improve one of the most important pages within site: the movie page. We thought that was incredibly important, because well, the site is all about movies after all! A few key things we tried to improve:

- Your friends: Something that we've been working on for some time is the ability to let you know if you're friends have seen a movie or have any opinions on the movies you're looking at. So, you'll now see a new "Your Friends" section if one of your friends has the movie on their list. Things like reviews and ratings will also show up. And don't worry if you're on a page and you don't see the section; it just means that none of your friends have added that movie to their shelf.

- Less cluttered look and feel: We wanted to make the things that are really important really jump out at you. Hence, it should be very easy to change the status of the movie on your shelf and to read the reviews of others. Additionally, we tried to make the picture one of the first things you will see.

- A new area to manage your relationship with the movie: We've created a new area in the top right of the page that should easily let you add the movie to your shelf, mark your ownership status, and rate it. Now you can easily do this in one place.

As always, please either pass along thoughts, comments and suggestions either in the comments section of this blog or to feedback@livingsocial.com. And don't forget to check out the new design and functionality on our other verticals like ReadingSocial and TuneSocial.

i've been looking forward to this kind of feature focus, so very cool! it does a look pretty cramped on FB with the recommended movies being cropped off. this a symptom of developing for new facebook which has more real estate? i haven't been following their work, but i don't know if it's an inevitable change. i, as well has about a dozen of my friends, have tried the new facebook and all of us have switched back, with the livingsocial blocks on my profile page being one of my larger reasons.

"this a symptom of developing for new facebook which has more real estate?" Yes. We noticed the same thing; but with Facebook planning to phase out "old" Facebook soon, we chose to develop more for the "new" interface. "all of us have switched back, with the livingsocial blocks on my profile page being one of my larger reasons." You can add these boxes back to your new Facebook Wall tab by following these steps - * Switch to the new Facebook interface (http://www.new.facebook.com) * Go to the ReelSocial homepage (http://apps.new.facebook.com/dvdshelf/) * In Facebook's Nav Bar at the top of the page, mouse over the "Applications" option * Click on the "Edit Settings for ReelSocial" link (this should be second from the top) * In the "Edit ReelSocial Settings" popup, click on the "Profile" tab * In the "Box" row, click the "add" link * Click the "Close button * Go to your Facebook profile page (http://www.new.facebook.com/profile.php) * Click on the "Boxes" tab * In the "ReelSocialf" module header, click on the "pencil icon" * Click on the "Move to Wall tab" link The "ReelSocial" module should now be visible in your Profile. You can repeat these steps for any other application. If these steps do not work for you, contact us at feedback@livingsocial.com and we will work to get your problems fixed.
