Embed your book collection 16

For those long-time users of ReadingSocial, you may remember a feature that allowed you to embed your collection on your blog or another site. As we made changes to the product, we had to disable that feature in order to allow larger changes to work. I am happy to report that you once again can display your collection anywhere you'd like. Here is an example of my collection:

In order to get your widget, simply go to the "Profile" tab and switch to rolodex mode ("toggle to rolodex" on the top of your books). From there, you will see a link to embed your collection. This will generate a snippet of code that you just need to copy and paste into the appropriate place. The default size is 450px x 400px, but you can resize it by changing the width and height in the code snippet. One limitation is that, if you have an extremely large collection (over 1000 books), the widget is very slow so we've disabled the option for larger collections. We'll work to improve this and other aspects in the future.

I was hoping this feature'd become available. But doesn't look like it works on Wordpress.com does it? :( Crushed.

Doesn't seem to work on myspace either. I'm guessing myspace doesn't allow the use if iframes in your profile...

Is there any way to move my booklist from Facebook over to Myspace without having to manually move each single title by looking them up? I have over 500 books and it'd be a pain to do manually, so I was curious if there was an easier way?

This is a nice feature it would be even better if you opened up the underlying data as XML feeds like twitter does. http://groups.google.com/group/twitter-development-talk/web/api-documentation

I would like to request a feature.... the ALL, ALREADY READ, WANT TO READ and READING NOW tabs should also be accompanied with MY REVIEWS TAB. Or there should be a feature to display the review of the reader... especially if he/she is embedding it into his/her site.. pleaaaaaaaasssssssseeeeeeeeee.....

it should be possible to customize it a little bit right? it looks really ugly everywhere you put it and messes any kind of layout one might have. also, wouldn't it be possible to choose wether you want to show on default the tab ALL, READING NOW or any other? it would be more interesting...

Could Reading Social provide an RSS feed of our book list instead of an iframe embed? That way Wordpress and Blogger users could display their books as a sidebar widget.

I second the wordpress Rss feeds and a myspace widget :)

I love the social apps, but I'd only use it seriously if it had an rss feed I could syndicate to my blog :/

I tried this and it really looked like the drop down menus were active. In other words... it looked like anyone visiting the site could change the status of the read, want to read, etc. I tried it on Myspace and on Hi5 and on blogger.

ditto Melissa I have just figured out how to add visual bookshelf to my bebo page, but I don't want to individually add every single book that is on my Facebook bookshelf. Also, I don't want to have to add each new book I read to both of them - any way around this? ps. love the application in general by the way.
