Don't you hate when a book doesn't have a cover? 14

If you do, you're not alone. A book missing its cover is one of the more frequent problems that gets reported to us, so we've tried to create a solution that helps solve this problem. If you go to a book and see that the cover is missing, there should be an option below the cover image to "Upload cover". From there, it's a simple process to upload an image.

Additionally, if you want to upload a different cover for the book then what is displayed, you can add a second image and a small gallery will appear with the new image. With this new function, we also want to make sure we're taking care of any inappropriate content. Under "report", there is now the capability to report an inappropriate image or report copyrighted material. We will continue to do our best in making sure ReadingSocial stays as current and up-to-date as possible.

    Yeah that'd be GREAT

My major problem is not the absence of covers, but the absence of books. I've read two books in the last week that could not be found. Both published in Australia, both available from Amazon, yet neither found by this application.

wonderfull! will hopefully reduce the multiple copies of the same book on the application. and melanie, it would be helpful if you could mention the names of the books and the authors. :)

i think this is a great idea. i have added a book without a cover thinking it's a different version or something and find out it's the same book, most frustrating.

Why add the same book twice? The words do not usually change, unless it's really reworked. If a book has the same title and author, it's the same book. I think it'd be better if there was only one entry for each book, with the different cover pictures. And sometimes the title or the author's name is spelled wrong, but that's because people can't spell on Amazon. Could there be a way to fix that?

Well, it's not perfect yet. I don't know how hard it would be, though, to create a system where we could import the book cover from Amazon where they might be....

thank you thank you thank you! i've been reading a lot of older material lately, many of which lack covers on Amazon. it's so nice to be able to add them myself. great addition to an already great application.

I added about a dozen book covers yesterday. Although the new covers are visible in my shelf area, I'm still unable to see them in my profile. What is up with that?

Nice idea, but my real problem is when the book is missing, not just its cover. I read once in a while some non mainstream books, and these books do not appear in your database. What about letting people add book entries?

Hummm! Two problems... 1) MOST of my books don't exist on any of the search lists... So can we figure out a way to add books, not just covers. 2) It is not ammusing having spent a couple of hours changing my covers only to find the next time I look everything has been changed back, we need to be able to change the covers on our own shelves not on the main database so they can't be changed back by others who have different editions. Thanks...! Tanya... Not all editions are the same!!!!!!!!

I have edited a wonderful book; "Why Spiders Live in Corners and Other African Stories". Naturally I, and others who have read it, would like to add the book to my booshelf. The problem is that it seems that the book has to be sold through Amazon.

I agree with Stacy. In fact, I'm from Italy and I read the Italian edition of a lot of books but, in order to don't add a new version of the same book in the database, I would like to add in my books the original (us or eng) version but with a different (ita) cover. After that, if I want to review it, I can't say that I read the Italian version and that I'm reviewing it. I add a lot of Italian covers but now that I know that, when I change the default cover, I'm not changing the cover on MY profile but the cover of all the readers, I understand that it's not correct. But, if I could change the cover only in MY profile, I shouldn't add another Italian edition of the same book.
